About the Artist
Darlene and Kim Parker
Darlene and Kim Parker are Manitoba Métis women who hail from Dawson Bay, Manitoba. This mother and daughter duo work together making leather crafts. When Darlene was raising her young children she decided to learn how to bead and sew moccasins, her Auntie Helen taught her this wonderful art and Darlene has since expanded her skills to include mukluks, gauntlets and mitts. While growing up, Kim was very intrigued with the process of leather crafting and from a young age started sewing moccasins, then beading. Today, Darlene and Kim are partners in their business Leather By Dar and have formed a special bond through their love of leather crafting.
