Jason Lepine

Jason Lepine is a Métis Fiddle Champion and Recording Artist who was born and raised in Portage la Prairie who is now residing in Winnipeg, MB. Jason started playing fiddle at age 7. He continues to share his Métis traditional fiddling which was passed down to him by his Dad, Garry Lepine. Jason has joined his Dad and many other fiddling legends being inducted into the Manitoba Fiddle Wall of Fame in 2020 in Carman, Manitoba. Jason is a self-taught fiddle player who plays by ear. Jason plays fiddle for many Red River Jigging and Square Dance Groups which is his specialty. Jason has won many fiddle contests over his fiddling career including the Manitoba Championship, Festival Du Voyageur and the list goes on. He also judges fiddle contests, teaches fiddle lessons and plays for all types of functions. Jason has played all over Canada, including some performances in the USA. Some of Jason’s memorable highlights in his fiddling career are: Winning the “Best Fiddle Album of the Year” at the 2014 Aboriginal People’s Choice Music Awards in Winnipeg, being one of the top 5 fiddlers selected to represent Manitoba to compete at the Grand Masters Fiddle Contest near Ottawa, playing fiddle for the Asham Stompers at the Celtic Colors International Festival in Cape Breton Island, N.S., performing at the Métis Back to Batoche Days in Saskatchewan, performing at Métis Festival at Keplinfest in Belcourt, N.D. USA and many, many more. Jason has also been an opening act for fiddle sensations: Donnell Leahy and Natalie McMaster and country acts: Doc Walker, Patricia Conroy, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Michelle Wright to name a few. Jason has 3 fiddle recordings out: “Hearsay”, Drivin’ Force” and his latest CD called “Métis Flair”. Jason’s unique Métis fiddling style is full of feel and lots of energy!
