Jacqueline Mcleod Jewelry – Medicine Bags – small

Jacquie is a Red River Métis Citizen from Winnipeg. She started beading and sewing about 20 years ago, more extensively beading the last 5 years. She has loved Métis beading and handmade work since her early years.  She used to sit with her grandmother while she worked at her old pedal sewing machine.  Jacquie made the family clothes and many other items. They lived along Lake Manitoba with no running water or plumbing, a different lifestyle than today. Jacquie misses sitting with her grandmother in the quiet, or going out picking berries with her aunties and cousins or sitting with a picnic at the lake drinking camp tea. When she beads today, she thinks of these old times, and especially her grandmother Mary with her kind and humble ways and her creativity in hard times. Jacquie would like to thank for any recognition she receives for her beadwork.
