Christian Goulet – Beaver Gauntlets

Christian Goulet is a Manitoba Red River Métis that has been experimenting with traditional and modern leather crafting and beadwork for over 15 years. Christian was inspired by Métis and First Nation Elders that taught him techniques and stitching, as well as patience and mindfulness for the craft. Christian’s study of engineering has given him a new perspective of the craft with respect to material science, structural design and durability. His work with traditional materials and modern techniques such as laser engraving and computer aided design software combine to push his work further creatively, to be beautiful, strong and smart like the black bear, his chosen crafting symbol.
