Tammy Chief

Tammy Chief is a Red River Métis citizen, a single mother of four adult children She resides, works and attends college in Dauphin, Manitoba. She enjoys spending quality time with her family, beading, listening to music and watching movies.

Tammy is a self-taught beader, who learned several types of beading techniques from other Indigenous artisans, by watching videos, joining an IWS workshop and asking other Red River Métis Artisans for guidance and inspiration.

A lot of her beadwork is inspired by her Métis culture and lineage, and she often only make pieces that she would be proud to wear or gift to others.

Tammy’s happy place is sitting at the kitchen table with a ray of colorful beads in front of her and a needle in her hand. She hopes that marketing her beadwork through the Red River Métis Marketplace will not only share her beadwork with others but inspire our younger generations to learn the beautiful art we can create by beading.
