Moonyeen Howard

Moonyeen Howard is a proud Red River Métis Woman, Mother and Wife. Being raised in Churchill, Manitoba from the young age of 6 until adulthood, gave her a great appreciation for the flora and fauna and a great passion for the Indigenous art/traditions that she was exposed to her entire life. There was nothing better than a brand-new pair of moccasins/mitts adorned with beautiful beadwork and soft fur. It wasn’t until COVID that she had the opportunity to fulfil a lifelong dream by taking some online beading sessions through Infinity Women Secretariat and the lovely Joan Church, that she had found a new passion. In 2023, after the loss of her mother, she had a great opportunity to broaden her horizon and take some courses over the summer with Northern Heart Designs and learn the art of making moccasins and mitts. This was a very therapeutic journey spending time with like minded woman, sharing stories and sharing some laughs. She looks forward to learning new art forms as time goes on.
