Lesley is a proud Red River Métis artisan who creates moccasins, purses, beadwork, leatherwork, and mittens, with a dream of designing her own distinctive mukluks. Working with natural materials, she discovered her craft only three years ago, yet it felt instantly familiar.
Her father was born and raised in Roostertown, where her family lived from 1901 to 1959, and learning that history helped her reclaim the Métis identity she was once encouraged to hide. Today, she flies the Métis flag as a symbol of honour and belonging.
