Jen Prier Klimack is a descendant of Ste. Madeleine, Manitoba. She is a first-generation, self-taught artist. Her journey in beadwork began when she started to look more into her Métis heritage. During Covid, this journey led her to create her most valued piece to date, which is an Octopus Bag. Jen learned so much during this project, either thru studying the history of the Octopus Bag or taking inspiration from other artists. This led her into other works and teachings about how the Métis beadwork differs from other Indigenous peoples. She has had the pleasure to speak with renowned Métis beadwork artist Jennine Krauchi, who has given her such wonderful feedback and encouragement for future projects. Jen also enjoys sharing her knowledge of beading with anyone who is interested in learning this amazing skill and art. She has been on this journey for the last 4 years and looks forward to many, many more years to come.
