My wife and I were introduced to maple syrup production in 2012 as a neighborhood endeavor. Our neighbors had a small sugar shack, and each year invited all neighbors to help tap a few trees, collect the pails and boil the sap. It was a great introduction to maple syrup for us. However, we became increasingly frustrated with the quality and small quantity of syrup created and decided to branch out on our own.
Two Wet Dogs Maple Syrup is a Métis-owned family run business. We practice sustainable collection and tending of the maple bush. As Métis, I have a close relationship with the land and value the opportunity to teach people of all ages who visit about our Maple Syrup. I enjoy showing how Sapping and Syruping has evolved from its aboriginal origins to the modern environmentally sustainable techniques we use today.
My wife (Ann) and I complement each other’s strengths and make a great team. We have worked very hard to increase our technique and quality resulting in multiple International award-winning products at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto.
