Dylan Pinette

Dylan Pinette (Wind and the Beads), a Two-Spirit Red River Métis oboist, composer, and artist based in Montréal, is pursuing a master’s degree at McGill’s Schulich School of Music.

Raised in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba, Dylan’s upbringing was steeped in nature, family, and good Métis music.

In winter 2022, Dylan’s mother began crafting earrings for them to celebrate their heritage as well as challenge the under representation of Indigenous people in classical music.

Dylan learned beading from her and now infuses their jewelry with a contemporary flair, blending connections to nature, spirituality, and modern fashion. Dylan’s creations are vibrant expressions of personal and cultural identity.
