De-Ann Holmes

“Attempt the absurd, achieve the impossible”  A motto that De-Ann has embodied and continues to live by. An award winning hand and decoy carver at 50 years of age picked up a chainsaw and found a new method to express her artistry. As one of very few female chainsaw carvers in Canada, De-Ann quickly made an impression in the chainsaw carving community as a fearless and seriously talented artist proud Métis, forager, mother, and grandmother De-Ann has lived in unison with nature and land for many years.

Her carving styles span the gamut from traditional to contemporary. Her pieces reflect Canada’s wilderness both nature and history.

As an established member of the Manitoba chainsaw carving community her artistic expression through this medium is well known across Manitoba and beyond. In her words she states “blessed to be part of this crazy carving family”.
